Top female players set to participate in 2024 Alberta Shooting Stars Showcase

Many of the province’s top young female basketball players will have a chance to show their skills during the Alberta Shooting Stars Showcase, taking place March 22 and 23 at Bearspaw Christian School in Calgary.

The 2024 edition of the annual event includes Prospects Games for students in Grades 8 and 9 and Grades 10 and 11, as well as All-Star Games for Grade 12 seniors, all on Saturday. Friday’s schedule features a three-on-three tournament for Grade 8/9, Grade 10/11 and Grade 12 divisions.

All participants will be recognized during an awards luncheon. The top girls high school player in the province will be presented with the Miss Basketball Alberta award, sponsored by Alberta Basketball Association (ABA).

Shooting Stars was first held in 1994. Prior years have seen as many as 200 athletes have participate in the Shooting Stars Showcase. The event is unique to girls’ basketball and one of the biggest events of its kind in Canada.
