Calgary's Ejim Named a Top 10 Candidate for 2024 Katrina McClain Award

ABA (Alberta Basketball Association) alumnae Yvonne Ejim of the Gonzaga Bulldogs has been named a Top 10 candidate for the 2024 Katrina McClain Award, which recognizes the top power forward in women's NCAA Division I college basketball.

The announcement was made by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Thursday (Jan. 25).

 

Through 21 games this season, Ejim is averaging 20.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. The senior forward from Calgary is shooting 64.9% from the field, which ranks eighth in Div. 1 and is tops in the West Coast Conference (WCC).

Ejim was part of Team Alberta at the Basketball Canada National Championships in 2016 (U15), 2018 and 2019 (U17), and represented her province at the 2017 Canada Summer Games.

Five finalists for the 2024 Katrina McClain Award will be announced in March, with the winner to be announced at a later date.
