Alberta Basketball partners to provide elite training opportunities for Edmonton area Girls this fall:

Senior and Junior Academy- partnered with Panthawks Basketball

The Senior and Junior Academy this fall will be coached and organized through the “Panthawk Academy”, a local elite development training academy.  Panthawks started as a partnership between Dave Oldham, then coaching the Panthers in Spruce Grove, and John Dedrick, the longtime coach of the Skyhawks in St. Albert, who were the 2019 4A Provincial Champions.  Dave and John have a long history of coaching in the Edmonton area, including Dave as the head coach of the U17 Provincial team in 2015 and 2016, as well as head coach for the MacEwan Griffins in 2015-16. This summer Dave is on the U17 Provincial Team staff.  John has worked as an assistant coach with the U of A Pandas, MacEwan Griffins, and this summer will be on the U15 Provincial team staff. Combining the resources of Alberta Basketball and the Panthawk Academy will put the best coaches and athletes together to create a learning environment that is a win win for all involved.

The Junior Academy is for athletes entering grades 7- 9 in the 2019/20 school year, while the Senior Academy is for athletes entering grades 10 -12.  

Registration for tryouts is open now! Tryouts will be on Sunday September 8th.

ONLINE TRYOUT REGISTRATION

All tryout participants must be Alberta Basketball members. The online registration has a mandatory purchase of the $17 ABA Membership along with the $10 tryout fee.  Once your ABA Membership is purchased you can register for all future ABA programs and tryouts in the 2019-20 season without having to pay it again.

The Junior and Senior Academy will run on Sunday afternoons for 9 sessions starting with the tryout on Sunday September 8th, and ending on Sunday November 3rd.  Both Junior and Senior Academies will run at the same time, on Sunday afternoons. Cost for the program will remain unchanged from 2018 at $375 inclusive of all the training and a gear package.
