Alberta Basketball All-Star Showcase returns for 2019!

Jan. 27, 2019

The Alberta Basketball Association All-Star Showcase is returning to Harry Ainlay high school on Tuesday, April 9.

A celebration of the top high school players from Edmonton and area, the third annual All-Star Showcase features the girls’ all-star game at 5:30 p.m. followed at 7:30 p.m., by the boys’ all-star game. The girls three-point contest and boys slam dunk contests will take place at halftime of the respective games.

Twenty-four players for both girls and boys will be divided into two teams that will play each other. Staff from the 2019 Metro Edmonton Division 1 finalists will coach the teams. Rosters will be announced following the conclusion of the high school basketball season.

Spectators have packed Harry Ainlay’s gym, creating an electric atmosphere for the first two editions of the All-Star Showcase. Jordan Baker, a graduate of Harry Ainlay who went on to a record-setting All-Canadian basketball career at the University of Alberta, partnered with the Alberta Basketball Association to launch the event.

“I am excited to see how much the All-Star Showcase has grown since its beginning,” says Baker.

“As a former high school student-athlete, I know how special an event like this can be for graduating players, as well as for their friends and family,” Baker adds.

“With Edmonton playing such a monumental role in my basketball career, I am proud to be able to support the next generation of local high school student-athletes.”
