ABA Alumni of the Week: Geoffrey James

University of Victoria Vikes student-athlete Geoffrey James has been named the Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) Alumni of the Week for Feb. 16 – Feb. 22, 2026.

The fifth-year guard scored 19 points and grabbed a game-high 8 rebounds to help the Vikes defeat the Alberta Golden Bears 97-74 in the Canada West men’s basketball semi-final at the CARSA Performance Gym in Victoria on Feb. 20. James also recorded 3 assists and 3 steals while leading all players with 34 minutes played.

Victoria will now host the UBC Thunderbirds in the Canada West men’s basketball championship game on Feb. 27.

In 18 games during the 2025-26 regular season, James averaged 11.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists, while leading the Vikes with 31 three-pointers made.

A native of Edmonton, James represented Alberta at the 2016 Canada Basketball 17U Boys National Championships in Winnipeg.
