Jr. NBA Youth Basketball (JNYB) is Canada’s national youth basketball program designed to develop fundamental skills, sportsmanship, and a love for the game of basketball. Canada Basketball and NBA Canada have partnered up to create this grassroots initiative to empower community basketball groups, facilities, and clubs across Canada in an effort to positively influence youth through the sport of basketball.
JNYB allows participants the opportunity to maximize their potential while promoting the importance of youth basketball as a vehicle to build character, discipline, and self-esteem. With each session, players have an opportunity to learn both basketball and movement skills, as well as mental and life skills.
Alberta Basketball’s CB Academy Program is aligned with the Team Alberta Provincial Program, which is an entry point into Canada Basketball's High Performance Athlete Development Pathway.
The CB Academy will focus on athlete skill development and playing within team concepts in all phases of the game. On-court training sessions will be led by top coaches from the local area utilizing curriculum developed by ABA working with Canada Basketball High Performance.
The goal of the CB Academy Program is for athletes to not only be in an environment where they can develop their on-court skills, but also to synthesize these techniques and evaluate how the lessons-learned fit into authentic game-like situations.
All athletes participating in Academy Programs this fall will be invited to register and attend the Alberta ID Camp weekend, more details to be announced.
The Western ID Camp consists of an Open ID session and Assessment sessions per age group. The ID Camp takes place in October or November as a part of the Alberta High Performance pathway for the upcoming year. Canada Basketball Men's & Women's High Performance, Team Alberta Provincial Team coaching staff and Post Secondary coaches from across the province assess athletes through out the ID Camps. Athletes will experience a National team camp format with representatives from Canada Basketball’s High Performance teams leading skill sessions and evaluating athletes for possible invites to future National Team and Provincial Team Camps.
