Albertans Olivia Leung (Calgary), Ify Nwaobi (Calgary), and Nyadieng Yiech (Calgary) have been named to Canada’s roster for the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2025, which is set to take place July 12-20 in Brno, Czechia.

The Albertan contingent makes up one-quarter of Team Canada, and are the most athletes from any province outside of Ontario on the Canadian roster.
Canada begins play in Group B, and will face Portugal (July 12 at 6:30 am MT), Nigeria (July 13 at 3:45 am MT) and China (July 15 at 3:45 am MT). All games will be streamed live on FIBA’s Courtside 1891.
Leung, Nwaobi and Yiech are all alumni of Alberta Basketball’s provincial team.
