Alberta Basketball Association (ABA) is celebrating Canada Day with the opening of nominations for the inaugural class of the Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame.
Beginning July 1, nominations can be made by completing the form accessible here.
Nominations will be accepted in the categories of athlete, builder, coach, official and team. Complete eligibility criteria can be found on the ABA website. The nomination period is open through Oct. 31.
“The Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame will recognize the finest athletes, coaches, administrators, officials, and contributors who have left an indelible mark on the ABA and the wider basketball community in Alberta and Canada,” says Dave Drabiuk, ABA Executive Director.
“From the legendary Edmonton Grads to the record number of Albertans now playing for national teams, our province has a rich basketball legacy,” adds Drabiuk. “The Hall of Fame will celebrate the past, honour the present and inspire the future.”
The launch of the Alberta Hall of Fame coincides with the 50th anniversary of ABA in 2025. As part of its silver anniversary celebrations, ABA will be unveiling the 50 Greatest Moments in Alberta Basketball later this summer, as well as hosting the 50th Anniversary Gala at the Edmonton EXPO Centre on Sept. 6. Tickets for the gala go on sale soon.
