Now Recruiting: 19U Women’s Head Coach - 2026 Arctic Winter Games

Do you have a passion for empowering athletes and building something bigger than basketball?

Alberta Basketball is now accepting applications for the Head Coach of the 19U Women’s Team Alberta North for the 2026 Arctic Winter Games, hosted in Whitehorse, Yukon from March 8-14, 2026.

This isn’t just another tournament — it’s a multi-sport cultural event uniting northern athletes across Canada and the circumpolar world. Athletes come from remote communities across Alberta’s north, including many Indigenous and Métis youth. Representing Alberta North is a powerful experience that transcends the game.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead athlete scouting and selection camps across Grande Prairie, High Level, and Fort McMurray (Fall 2025)

• Guide the team through three weekend training camps and pre-Games competitions (Winter 2025-26)

• Travel with the team to Whitehorse for the Games (March 2026)

What We’re Looking For:

• NCCP-certified coach with experience, or working towards, the Train to Compete stage of athlete development

• Reside north of the 55th parallel (think: Grande Prairie, Peace River, Fort McMurray, Slave Lake, High Level, and surrounding communities)

• Passion for building basketball in northern and Indigenous communities

• Strong commitment to timelines, athlete development, and team-building

• Criminal Record Check and all coaching certification requirements must be complete by November 14, 2025

Key Dates:

• Tryouts: Sept-Oct 2025

• Training Camps: Dec 2025, Feb & Mar 2026

• Games: March 8-14, 2026
