CEBL Championship Weekend coming to Alberta in 2020

The Edmonton Stingers have been named the host for the Canadian Elite Basketball League’s 2020 Championship Weekend, Aug.14-16, 2020 at the Edmonton Expo Centre.

“The Edmonton Stingers, in collaboration with the City of Edmonton, the Province of Alberta, and Alberta Basketball are proud to welcome the Canadian basketball community to our city for the 2020 CEBL Championship Weekend. Having recently hosted the FIBA Women's Olympic Pre-Qualifying Americas Tournament, Edmonton is ready for an even bigger basketball party in August,” said Stingers President and CEBL Championship Weekend Director Brett Fraser.

The Stingers and the team with the best regular season record will have automatic berths into the four-team Championship Weekend showcase. The next four teams in the standings will play quarterfinal games Aug. 9 to determine which two will advance to Edmonton. The 2020 CEBL Championship Weekend game schedule is as follows:

Friday Aug.14, 2020 - Semifinal #1 (6 p.m.)                  
Friday Aug.14, 2020 - Semifinal #2 (8 p.m.)               
Sunday Aug.16, 2020 - Final (2 p.m.)                           

The 2019 CEBL Championship Weekend was the culmination of the CEBL's inaugural season, and took place in Saskatoon in August where the host Rattlers defeated Hamilton to win the championship.
