Teams and schedules announced for 2019 FIBA 3X3 Edmonton Challenger

Teams and schedules have been announced for the 2019 FIBA 3X3 Challenger Edmonton.

Many of the FIBA 3X3 World Tour's top teams will converge on West Edmonton Mall's Ice Palace for two days of elite competition, Saturday Sept. 28 and Sunday, Sept. 29.

The field includes four of the top seven teams in the FIBA 3X3 World Tour standings, led by Novi Sad (No 2) and Princeton (No. 4). NY Harlem (No. 6) returns to defend its title from the won the inaugural FIBA 3x3 Edmonton Challenger in 2018, while Team Edmonton (No. 7) will look to make the most of home advantage.

Things tip off on Saturday, with the opening ceremonies at 1:40 p.m., followed by game action until approximately 7 p.m. Sunday's schedule features the playoff rounds, beginning with the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. and culminating with the championship final at approximately 4 p.m. For complete schedule details visit https://worldtour.fiba3x3.com/2019/challengers/edmonton/games.

Team Edmonton's lineup comprises a quartet of Alberta Basketball alumni; Jordan Baker and Steve Sir of Edmonton, and Calgary natives Jordan Jensen-Whyte and Kyle Landry. After putting on a show for his hometown fans last year, Sir will look to repeat as champion of FIBA 3X3 Challenger Edmonton shootout competition; the shootout qualifying round is scheduled for Saturday, with the final on Sunday.
