Canada puts on a show at opening day of FIBA 3X3 Women's Series in Edmonton

The first FIBA 3x3 Women's Series event in Edmonton got off to a fantastic start at the West Edmonton Mall Ice Palace on Sept. 22, with hundreds of fans cheering on as the world's top women's 3x3 teams took part in the opening ceremonies before hitting the court for some serious competition.

Led by Edmonton's own Katherine and Michelle Pouffe, Team Canada won both of its games in Pool A to earn a berth in the semi-final. Meanwhile in Pool B, Team USA went 2-0 to also clinch a spot in the semis.

The action continues Sunday, Sept. 22, when the quarterfinals, semi-finals, and final will be played, and Team Canada looks to close out the 2019 season by winning its fourth straight event.
